FILM AND VIDEO

I interned for Ken Burns's Florentine Films for four months in 2011. During that time, I worked on three documentaries:

Between 1995 and 2010, I worked with Avid Technology, writing stories about film and television technology and the editing craft. I interviewed film and TV directors, editors and sound designers and wrote about their work. They included Academy Award nominees and winners, such as director Steven Soderbergh; editors Joel Cox, Dan Hanley, Mike Hill, Stephen Mirrione, Gary Roach, Christopher Rouse, Tim Squyres, Kevin Tent, and Dylan Tichenor; and sound professionals Alan Murray, Eugene Gearty and Philip Stockton.

In addition to writing feature stories for avid.com, my entertainment-related work has appeared in Post magazine, Millimeter, Indie Slate, TV Technology, Broadcast and Cable News, and the Creative Planet Network website. For writing samples, visit the Articles page.

Land, Sky, and Spirit: Finding Utopia in Mesilla Valley
UTOPIA Exhibition, Current Studio, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, November-December 2016

Video artist Hye Young Kim and I met during a residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute in 2015 where we traveled together to southern New Mexico to explore the Mesilla Valley. We collaborated on a video poem that portrays the centuries-old magnetism of this region, from the White Sands desert to the experimental utopia of the Las Cruces-based Shalam Colony. This piece evokes a sense of new beginnings in a spiritual setting that possesses a harsh, inspirational beauty.
